Job Summary
Commercial HVAC Equipment Estimator will review mechanical plans and specifications, provide equipment selections, cost estimates and detailed proposals. Estimator will collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and project teams to review mechanical plans, conduct product takeoffs, and prepare detailed proposals that meet project requirements and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial mechanical plans and specifications
- Perform thorough applied equipment takeoffs
- Select and configure commercial HVAC components to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness
- Utilize estimating software to develop detailed and accurate project proposals
- Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure equipment selections aligned with client specifications
- Prepare detailed proposals and supporting documentation
- Participate in bid review meetings to provide technical insights and risk assessments
- Effectively communicate with internal teams, clients and vendors to clarify proposal scope and resolve discrepancies
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of proven experience as a Commercial HVAC Estimator.
- Applied equipment estimating experience, including chillers and air handling units preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Construction Management, or a related technical field (preferred). Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Understanding of commercial HVAC systems
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex mechanical systems and specifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to identify discrepancies and mitigate potential risks
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with estimating software, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Self-motivated, proactive problem solver with a team-oriented mindset
