Role Overview:
The Chief Engineer ensures all mechanical systems, facilities, and property assets are maintained to the highest standards. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, budgeting, and team development to keep the property safe, functional, and guest-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations & Budgeting: Manage engineering operations within budget, including wages and expenses, while ensuring proper supplies are always available.
- Property Maintenance: Oversee upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, and equipment—painting, lighting, flooring, seating, grounds, and vehicles—ensuring the property always looks professional and well-kept.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement and track a Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP) to inspect and service all units quarterly, ensuring long-term reliability of assets.
- Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise staff; set clear departmental goals; maintain professionalism; and reinforce safety practices to prevent accidents.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations; manage MSDS records and chemical storage; train staff on emergency procedures to safeguard guests and employees.
- Communication & Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with all departments, hold monthly staff meetings, and support special projects on time.
- Guest & Team Experience: Foster a culture of hospitality—ensuring staff greet guests warmly, maintain professionalism in communications, and uphold brand standards.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of engineering leadership experience in the hotel industry
- Worked as Chief Engineer in hotels/resort with 300 plus rooms.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and staff development skills
- Certifications in electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing
- Hands-on experience with pools, spas, AC, drywall, and plumbing
- Ability to uphold hotel policies, brand standards, and positive team culture
