WFT Engineering, Inc. (www.wfteng.com), has an opening for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with MEP Project Management expertise. The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to interface between Owners, Architects, other consultants while leading the WFT team members to meet or exceed client expectations and project requirements. The ability to represent WFT in marketing/interview situations, prepare successful proposals, negotiate professional service contracts, as well as to provide technical leadership for both mechanical and plumbing discipline work efforts are just some of the daily responsibilities. All candidates must be proficient with Word, Bluebeam, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD would be a plus. The candidate should be a licensed professional mechanical engineer, by examination and be licensed in MD, VA & DC. It is expected that the candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience working within a consulting engineering or A/E environment. This experience should include hands-on design level experience involved with preparation of mechanical/plumbing drawings, specifications, existing facility assessment reports, and have a good understanding of engineering principles to assist other engineering team members. The successful candidate will be a professional team player with a "can do" attitude and have exceptional English reading, writing and grammar skills, internet and computer skills, organizational abilities, present well and be reliable.
Minimum skills and qualifications:
- Licensed as a professional mechanical engineer - PREFERRED.
- 5+ years of experience as mechanical/plumbing engineer, including 5+ years including project management experience on multidiscipline commercial, institutional, health care and/or governmental projects.
- Knowledge of codes and standards including national, international, local jurisdictional codes and NFPA codes.
- Experience developing performance-based solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline.
Key Skills for Senior Mechanical Engineers:
- Coordination with other engineers/designers, both in our office and with other consultants.
- Manual and computer calculations, including HVAC load and energy modeling.
- Field verification of existing systems.
- Preparation of project related correspondence.
