Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 9-month position with the possibility of a 3-month summer appointment as well, depending upon the needs of the institution and enrollment. Placement will be on the D1 salary schedule (Range of $42,108 to $94,363/Additional Summer Range: $13,001 to $29,184) and is at the President's discretion based on applicable, documented work experience and level of education. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 35 per week.

Start Date: January 2026 Job Title:Â Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Instructor
Function: The HVAC-R Instructor must teach Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration courses; advise students; assist students in attaining industry certifications; sponsor student organizations; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration. The employee must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Organize, instruct, and supervise students in both the classroom and laboratory settings as assigned
- Prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental guidelines
- Participate in the selection of texts and teaching materials for Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration courses
- Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software
- Utilize the SAGE and other educational software as required by the institutionÂ
- Participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the college drop/add process
- Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies
- Participate in the College's planning process
- Serve on institutional committees
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to insure maximum student competency
- Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
- Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
- Recruit students for the program and College at large
- Agree to teach both day and evening classes, on and/or off-campus, and distance education courses
- Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
- Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
- Collect and maintain performance data for reporting purposes
- Maintain a safe, secure, and sanitary classroom and salon environment
- Oversee live work
- Comply with policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President or supervisor(s)
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position
- Effective oral and written communication skills required.
- Competency in the use of current educational technologies preferred.
Minimum Required Education, Training And/or Experience
- Associate's degree in HVAC-R or a closely related field required
- Minimum of three years of documented industry experience in HVAC-R required
- Alabama HVAC-R Contractor's license (active or inactive) preferred
- Significant and relevant (NATE, ESCO, etc.) certifications in HVAC-R preferred
- Experience in teaching at the community college level preferred

Criminal Background Checks-In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and procedures, the applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a consent form for a criminal background check.
