HVAC Mechanical General Manager

We are seeking an experienced and strategic HVAC Mechanical General Manager to lead and manage all operations within our HVAC division. This role combines technical expertise in mechanical/HVAC systems with business acumen, leadership, and project oversight. The GM will be responsible for driving performance, managing engineering and field teams, ensuring quality delivery of services, and achieving business growth goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day HVAC division operations, including engineering, design, procurement, installation, and service teams.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize workflow, safety, and quality assurance.
- Monitor KPIs, budgets, profitability, and project timelines across multiple ongoing projects.
Strategic Leadership
- Drive business growth through client development, proposal leadership, and contract negotiation.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for market expansion (commercial, residential, industrial sectors).
- Report directly to the CEO or Executive Board on performance metrics and department goals.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow cross-functional teams including HVAC engineers, project managers, estimators, and field technicians.
- Conduct staffing plans, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Foster a strong safety culture and promote continuous learning.
- Oversee high-level HVAC system design, specifications, load calculations, and control strategies.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, Florida Building Code, and local regulations.
- Approve technical solutions and resolve complex engineering challenges in real-time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Business (required).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HVAC/mechanical systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership or general management role.
- Strong understanding of design-build, MEP coordination, and construction lifecycle.
- Proven track record of P&L ownership, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and ERP or project management platforms (e.g., Procore, CMiC, MS Project).
