Position Overview
The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities for a high-volume baked food manufacturing facility. This leader ensures equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and minimal production downtime by managing preventative maintenance programs, directing a team of technicians, and partnering closely with operations, quality, and safety.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, solutions-oriented maintenance leader with strong experience in a baked food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- The Maintenance Manager will lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and utilities staff across multiple shifts.
- Set clear expectations, manage performance, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and ensure adequate coverage during production runs.
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
- Own the Los Angeles facility’s Preventative Maintenance (PM) program to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
- Implement predictive tools (vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication programs, etc.) where applicable.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure PM tasks are completed to standard.
Equipment & Facility Management
- Oversee maintenance and repair for ovens, mixers, conveyors, proofers, packaging equipment, compressed air systems, boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical systems, and building infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to quickly resolve unplanned downtime.
- Manage outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, and calibrations.
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with OSHA, EPA, food safety (FDA/FSMA), and company safety standards.
- Work closely with QA to support food safety protocols, sanitation processes, and plant audits.
- Participate in root cause analyses for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Budgeting & Planning
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget (labor, parts, services, and capital projects).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate capital investment needs.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and critical equipment components.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements through lean principles, equipment upgrades, and reliability engineering practices.
- Partner with production leadership to enhance line efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
- Standardize procedures for changeovers, setups, lubrication, and safety checks.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, preferably baked food manufacturing*
- 5+ years in a supervisory capacity or as a Maintenance Manager
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills (PLC knowledge preferred).
- Experience with ovens, mixers, conveyors, refrigeration, pneumatics, and food processing equipment strongly desired.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and plant safety regulations.
- Proficiency using CMMS systems for scheduling and documentation.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to be on-site in Los Angeles

Compensation & Benefits
- $125,000-150,000 compensation
