Key Responsibilities
As a core member of our technical team, you will:
- Lead on-site assessments and investigations, including visual inspections and diagnostic testing of building performance issues and system failures.
- Conduct technical design reviews of mechanical and enclosure systems.
- Perform energy modeling and data analysis using tools such as Energy Quest, WUFI, and/or THERM, especially for Passive Building (Phius) projects.
- Manage tasks and projects within budget and timeline expectations.
- Maintain high standards of client communication and relationship management.
- Mentor and support the growth of colleagues by sharing expertise, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal creation, presentation, and delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related Building Science discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Advanced technical knowledge of HVAC and building enclosure systems.
- Proficiency in energy modeling and data analysis tools (WUFI, THERM).
- Strong understanding of sustainable building practices.
- Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building systems engineering, building physics, thermodynamics, and advanced energy analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with systems commissioning for construction projects.
- Familiarity with tools such as EnergyPlus / OpenStudio, AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
Work Environment
- Primarily based in our Worcester office (3–4 days/week).
- Local travel to client sites (1–2 days/week).
- Occasional out-of-state overnight travel may be required.
