Mechanical Estimator – HVAC & Piping

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team. This role plays a key part in securing new work by preparing accurate, competitive estimates for complex mechanical construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong estimating experience in sheet metal and/or piping and a desire to develop full-scope mechanical knowledge.

Projects may include hospitals, data centers, educational and research facilities, high-rise buildings, pools, and commercial properties.

Note: Looking for someone with at least 5 years as an estimator at a mechanical contracting firm. We will not consider MEP estimators at general contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Review contract documents, plans, and specifications to determine full scope of work
Prepare material and subcontractor bid lists and coordinate invitations to bid
Utilize estimating software and historical data to perform takeoffs and develop cost estimates
Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for accuracy and competitiveness
Prepare detailed scope letters, bid forms, and proposal documents
Attend pre-bid and strategy meetings; lead project turnover meetings upon award
Support value engineering efforts and estimate change orders when needed
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients throughout the bid process

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience
OR
Equivalent mechanical/HVAC field experience with 5+ years of estimating expertise
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of learning new estimating tools
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
